Duncan
So we had our fights in Duncan over the weekend. Both Hardeep (Dipper) and Stephan fought in a boxing and kickboxing match, respectively.
This was Dipper's first fight and she fought a very good fighter from Duncan. She started the first round throwing jabs and overhands and a few connected cleanly (her opponent was still talking about her power at the bar later that night, haha).
Her opponent had more of an upper hand in the second round, landing a few shots, but Dipper didn't back down and rebuttled with a few of her own.
In the third round, both fighters were exhausted and were landing lots of shots on each other; however, they lacked the power to get any KOs and Dipper's opponent squeezed out the decision victory at the end of the fight.
Even though she suffered a loss, Hardeep fought an awesome fight and impressed many people at the venue with her heart and power and we are all proud of her (especially all her die-hard fans that came to watch).

Stephan started his fight pumped up and ready to go. He had a scary and determined look in his eye and you could tell he wanted to put on a show. The bell rang and the two fighters started exchanging right away with a combination of both kicks and punches.
Stephan's opponent managed to hand a head kick but Stephan was able to withstand the blow and tried for the clinch. His opponent backed away, not wanting anything to do with Stephan in the clinch, counterpunching. Then, unfortunately, Stephan let his guard down and his opponent managed to land another head kick, this time bringing Stephan to the mat. Stephan, showing the heart of a great fighter, mustered everything he had and tried to get up but was still quite wobbly from the blow to his temple. The referee noticed this and called the fight in favour of his opponent.

Even though the evening had mixed results, we all have to remember that there are no absolutes in fighting. Even the best of fighters can get caught making mistakes in the ring or the cage. It's these mistakes that make a fighter learn and better him/herself in preparation for their next fight. And the best of fighters keep fighting no matter what gets thrown at them. |
